Awkward?!

The other day I was shopping in Amsterdam city with one of my daughters. We walked along one of the beautiful canals and because of the sun, people were seated in front of their houses enjoying drinks. As we passed by, I looked a man in the eyes and felt a positive vibe. As my daughter asked me the day before what kind of man I fancy, I told her he was that kind of man.

Obviously, she’s 20, she completely missed him 😅.

But she was very supportive, she told me if I wanted something from that man, I should go back.

We turned and passed by a second time. Being full of fear, I made a small compliment to him about the nice spot they had for drinks.

I was kind of proud of myself….

And I realised my moment was over…

Or not?

One week later I chose to be a badass, to go there once again and ring the bell…

His wife opened the door. We had a really nice conversation and obviously it was clear this man was not for me.

If you look at it from a result point of view, on the surface my badass move didn’t bring me anything.

So, why do I tell you this story?

Three reasons:

  1. I told the story to my children and in this way I taught them that leaving your comfort zone might feel scary but nothing bad happens when you do. Life just goes on.
  2. I did something that made me feel proud. And no matter what, it makes me feel stronger.
  3. And, well, it’s just a good story 😉

What happens when you leave your comfort zone?
