THIS IS WHAT ABUNDANCE LOOKS LIKE ⬇️

On July 31st my parents were married for 60 years.

The party was amazing! Although both being in their 80’s and, sadly, having carried many friends to their final resting place, my parents succeeded in renewing their friends base over the years.

This is how they did it:

About 18 years ago they sold the house where I grew up in and bought a newly build apartment in the city center. They immediately started volunteering. My father joined the board of the owners’ association as treasurer. My mother decorated the apartment building throughout the year with flowers and started teaching a group of ladies how to create the most amazing flower arrangements themselves.

And there was more. For years my mother volunteered at the “Zonnebloem”, an organisation that brings activities for elderly people. She was pushing the wheelchair of what she called the “oudjes” (older people) being 78 herself! She quit volunteering at 85 (after 25+ years).

My father shared the love for and knowledge of his city, Tilburg, for years as a city guide. With great enthusiasm he shared stories about the rich textiles history, while walking through the city with various groups. It was and still is his passion. He quit at 82, but sometimes, on a special occasion, you will find him on the streets again sharing the stories he so often shared with others.

By sharing and caring my parents made beautiful friends which brought them so much joy. This is a lesson that I take with me for the rest of my life. I’m so grateful that I have these 2 wonderful people as my parents, that they taught me so many valuable lessons, but most of all: I’m intensily grateful that I have them still around.

I can only call this ABUNDANCE!

What valuable lesson did your parents teach you?

MOVE!

One of my friends is a cyclist. I never understood the fun of cycling. To me cycling is not particularly fun, a bike is a way to transport me from A to B. Last September, when we had some beautiful sunny days, I thought of going for a swim at a local outdoor swimming pool.…

DON’T STOP ME NOW (CAUSE I’M HAVING A GOOD TIME)

“Don’t stop me now” – Queen 1978 “Tonight I’m gonna have myself a real good time, I feel alive”. I’m cutting through every safety cord that I had left. I feel insecure, but also determined.  If I truly want to be free, I need to release all boundaries.I did the thing that scared me most:…

A little gesture means the world

Last year I was facilitating a storytelling training with my co-host bestie. When he entered the room he gave me this card. It was a simple caring gesture of kindness and it immediately created the positive energy that we always feel when facilitating together.  Sometimes this is litterally just all that it takes. What can…
