The beauty of symmetry

Walking through the streets my eyes are caught by symmetry.

I suppose to me it feels like balance, a delicate equilibrium that might be disturbed, but always finds it’s way back again.

It’s perfect and imperfect. It’s moving.

It’s what life is all about. One day it’s perfect, the next day you might face difficulties that seem to hard to overcome. Our challenge is to deal with all circumstances. Like one of my meditation teachers, S.N. Goenka, tells me: The challenge is to stay equanimous at all times.

Balance makes me face the world differently. Balance is beautiful, serene and calm.

When I’m all rational, I get things done, I negotiate on deals, I clean my house, I arrange a dinner party. There’s action and activity. It’s practical and analytical. It’s the left hemisphere of my brain overruling the right one.

I love to get things done and tend to give a lot of space to this left part of my brain.

But, in order to bring the best of me to the world, balancing both hemispheres left and right is what makes the difference. It’s my right and left hemisphere working together bringing me the full potential of my brain power.

Because, my right hemisphere is my sharp eye that sees things. It’s the visionary that can look beyond. It’s the creator of new ideas. It’s the one that turns logic into magic ✨💫

And then, you’re on your own.

Do you recall a situation when you were suddenly on your own? * Leaving your parents’ house when you went to university?* The loss of a loved one?* A divorce? There are many situations in which we all of a sudden feel left alone. I’m currently in such a situation. I left my job, my…

MOVE!

One of my friends is a cyclist. I never understood the fun of cycling. To me cycling is not particularly fun, a bike is a way to transport me from A to B. Last September, when we had some beautiful sunny days, I thought of going for a swim at a local outdoor swimming pool.…

DON’T STOP ME NOW (CAUSE I’M HAVING A GOOD TIME)

“Don’t stop me now” – Queen 1978 “Tonight I’m gonna have myself a real good time, I feel alive”. I’m cutting through every safety cord that I had left. I feel insecure, but also determined.  If I truly want to be free, I need to release all boundaries.I did the thing that scared me most:…

GO! PLAY! OUTSIDE! NOW!

When will you finally step outside of your comfort zone?  Outside your comfort zone lies a whole new world full of bright and vivid experiences. I found this hard to believe myself. I loved my soft, safe space, but my creative me wanted to write and continuously invited me to show up. I had no…
