The invitation of the universe

I strongly believe the universe is with us.
In small sparks it offers us opportunities, if only we learn to listen to it.
This listening is challenging as it’s usually not a clear: ‘Hello, I have an offer to make’. It’s hidden in various messages or signs and we’re invited to filter them.

The good news is, we’re fully equipped to do so.

It may sound difficult, but it’s actually only about creating space to allow the messages to be heard. Usually our heads are busy with our schedules, our plans and whatever we can find to be distracted. Sometimes it feels to me that we fear the silence. Nothing to do, for most us, feels boring. But exactly there, hidden in this boredom, the universe is able to speak to us.

One way of tapping into the listening mode is beautifully described in the book “The sixth sense”  by Hans Peter Roel. The exercise that he provides us with is called the Princeton-shuffle: breathe in calmly for 5 counts, take 2 steps (your breath pauzes during these steps), breathe out calmly for 5 counts, take 2 steps, breathe in calmly for 5 counts, etc.  Continue in this pace for at least 10 minutes. The boredom of doing only two steps ahead and breathing 5 counts might feel awkward at first, but if you take the time to just follow the instructions, you will notice what slowing down brings you. It allows you to tap into a relaxed mode that might open up your channel with the universe.

The other day a friend called me. He was going to take an unexpected step, moving abroad, following his wife that just got appointed a new job over there. He himself was in the middle of researching what his next step would be. Being away from everything might just be what the universe presented to him to open up a different perspective.

Just a few weeks after the opportunity came along, he and his family moved. My friend is following his spark. I wish him all the best.

The sixth sense by Hans Peter Roel is available in Dutch: Het zesde zintuig – ISBN 9789079677887.

A little gesture means the world

Last year I was facilitating a storytelling training with my co-host bestie. When he entered the room he gave me this card. It was a simple caring gesture of kindness and it immediately created the positive energy that we always feel when facilitating together.  Sometimes this is litterally just all that it takes. What can…

LET LOVE RULE!

I did an internship in Tunisia when I was 21. In the mornings, I drove to my work to an inland fashion factory. In the evenings, to pay for my rent, I had an extra job, working at the Ruspina hotel animation team, entertaining the hotel quests with sketches, dancing, singing. Back then and there,…
