The FUN FACTOR of life

Recreating my life over the past years learned me a lot about myself. For instance: Freedom is my number one value in life. If I can’t live my freedom, I get stuck and annoyed. So, I need to remind myself consciously over and over again to live it.

Fun is probably the next one. In the past I thought fun wasn’t a value, just something that we were craving for. But, by studying wise books and listening to stories of inspiring people, I learned that pleasure was already mentioned in the Veda’s. The Veda’s are the oldest scriptures of Hinduism. Although in their base Hindu text, they are often seen as universal knowledge, exceeding any form of religion or ways of thinking.

In the Veda’s you can find 4 goals of life (4 Purusharthas):

  • Dharma: our contribution to life
  • Artha: prosperity, economic values
  • Kama: pleasure, fun
  • Moksha: liberation, spiritual values.

Let’s take a closer look at Kama, pleasure, fun, as mentioned before one of my core values. A fun thing that I recently started is:

Wake up and wake up your wisdom!

This is a calendar full of daily inspiration that wakes you up every morning. It’s ongoing, interactive and sustainable (no waste of paper). If you desire change in your life but don’t know where to start or would like a gentle daily reminder, this calendar might just be for you.

You can start your journey at any day of the year and will be enjoying a full year of wisdom: authentic wise words, blogs, guided meditations and more. Every month dives into a theme, if you wish, you can choose to follow the theme and deepen your (self)knowledge or you can just enjoy the beautiful pictures and nice phrases.

We started with Magnificent May, slid into Jolly June and now we’re arriving at reJuvenating July. A month full of recharging our batteries, as summer holidays are starting.

I’m also scheduling a break soon, you can find me in beautiful Tuscany this summer. Showing the city of Florence, where I once lived shortly and studied Italian, to my kids and driving around in the endless beautiful nature that surrounds the city.

But…., I won’t take a break from my calendar, as I promised it to be ongoing!

I started it, as It feels to me like my Dharma to share my knowledge.

Will it bring Artha or Moksha? I don’t know. Time will tell.

But, having fun as one of my main values in life, Kama is covered! I love it! Lets make fun and create joy!

Happy holidays!

Do you recall a situation when you were suddenly on your own? * Leaving your parents’ house when you went to university?* The loss of a loved one?* A divorce? There are many situations in which we all of a sudden feel left alone. I’m currently in such a situation. I left my job, my…

MOVE!

One of my friends is a cyclist. I never understood the fun of cycling. To me cycling is not particularly fun, a bike is a way to transport me from A to B. Last September, when we had some beautiful sunny days, I thought of going for a swim at a local outdoor swimming pool.…
